Sunday

So making a post, simply because I am bored.  Nothing really to report.

This last week the client was in the office, and things went smoothly.  It was a lot of hard work, but by the end of the week things were better.

I was fighting a cold all week.

Finally was able to get some work done on my tattoo

I had a lot more to say.. but I seem to have forgotten in.

More next week.

Whoa dude.

Let me tell you, it's been a fun.. couple of weeks.   Just gotta keep on swimming, and think smiling happy people everywhere!

New phone system at work, as well as a new building, all the while training and continuing to call for the annual programs, and the client is visiting the same day that we start out in the new building.

I currently work by myself from 8 to 9 and in the new building everyone is quiet, definitely a difference from M1.

I like our new office, it's very clean and bright, and has nice big windows, draw back to the big windows.. it's fricken freezing in here.  It also does not help that the docking bay is right outside our area with non-sealed doors between us and the docking bay.

Oh well, I have my sweater and I'll bring in a blanket and all will be fine.

I'm the kind of person that can easily roll with change, something changes, all right.  Yet there are a lot of people who do not, and I work with some of them.  It amazes me that people tend to forget Michigan has a 14% unemployment rate, and while this job may not be the greatest in the world, it is by far not the worse.  I work for a great company that seems to care about the people it works for. My TLs are really nice and try their best to keep everyone happy.  I definitely do not envy their job as they try to keep their bosses, the client and their workers all happy at once. It is not an easy thing to do.

Anyways, Family news; My niece Raeanne is selling girl scout cookies, yes.. I now have a constant supplier for my Tag-a-Longs. BWAHAHAH

Ben and Nick are doing well in school.  Ben is still struggling with math, but we are working on that everyday.  I think as parents all 3 of us do well with the boys. I see them being very successful in life as we have instilled in them you have to work to get things you want.  I recently read an excerpt from "Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother" I've heard lots of reviews on this book recently and decided to read a bit for myself before I purchased anything.  After the excerpt I read, I decided against it.  Amy Chua is a mother of two girls who was born in China and immigrated with her parents over to the United States. She goes on to compare the differences between "Chinese" Parenting and "western" parenting.  Which she uses loosely where "Chinese" parenting is strict parenting, and "western" parenting is more laid back.

Amy Chua's daughters are very successful, her eldest played the piano at Carnegie Hall at age 13, her youngest was taught violin by one of the most sought after instructors in the world. Yet, her methods were very harsh, on the verge of abusive. A piece

"Here are some things my daughters, Sophia and Louisa, were never allowed to do:
  • attend a sleepover
  • have a play date
  • be in a school play
  • complain about not being in a school play
  • watch TV or play computer games
  • choose their own extra-curricular activities
  • get any grade less than an A
  • not be the #1 student in every subject except gym and drama
  • play any instrument other than the piano or violin
  • not play the piano or violin"

I could almost understand most of what she was saying her methods are extreme but in an interview she claimed it was all done in love, so that it was not abuse.  Another piece of the book that actually offended me quite a bit.

"Of course, I also wanted Sophia to benefit from the best aspects of American society.  I did not want her to end up like one of those weird Asian automatons who feel so much pressure from their parents that they kill themselves after coming in second on the national civil service exam.  I wanted her to be well rounded and to have hobbies and activities.  Not just any activity, like "crafts", which can lead nowhere--or even worse, playing the drums, which leads to drugs-- but rather a hobby that was meaningful and highly difficult with the potential for depth and virtuosity. And that's where the piano came in"

I hate to break it to you Mrs. Chua, but the piano is a percussion instrument. Now while I have met some drummers who do drugs, and many popular drummers in bands become drug addicts.  Just because one plays the drums does not mean it leads to drugs.  Percussion can be very meaningful and highly difficult, why don't you play the 5 octave marimba with 6 mallets and see how easy it is?

Amy Chua claimed in her interview she was trying to be satirical and have a bit of tongue in cheek, but in the small amount I read it did not feel that way, and I do not want to read any further.  Demanding high standards from your children is fine, forcing them to play and not giving them bathroom breaks until they mastered a concerto is not.

Dan has been doing ok, some days are better than others, but fortunately seems to have more better than not.  We tried to play with his medication dosage recently and found out, that the cocktail he has works best for him.  It's not the best as it makes him drowsy in the mornings and he has to nap, but without it the bad thoughts come back.  I'd rather he take a nap in the middle of the day than to have those horrible thoughts that come into his mind.  I wouldn't wish what Dan has been going through on anyone.

Parents are good, lil bro was home for a while and now he is off to the grand state of New York to go through prototype school.  He talks about what he has to do and it is way over my head.  So I just nod and smile and realize my brother is going to see and do great things in his life, and I will proudly be watching.

Dan's parents are doing ok. His mom not so much as she is feeling a lot of stress and that makes her condition worse.  Lynn always tries to make everyone happy, and making two people happy that she lives with right now is not easy and it's a strain on her. Dan has to call and remind her to take her medicine every day, otherwise she forgets and does even worse.

Family is family is family, and I will love all of my family members to the day I die, but I do not have to like what they are doing.  Some people are very VERY selfish and can only think of themselves.  They also want all of the rewards but none of the work.  There are ways to getting what you want, and just not in the black and white that you see.  I hope that you can see what you are doing to your mother and how blessed you are to have some place to sleep right now, and not out in the streets, because I know a lot of parents who would've kicked you out for what you have done recently.  Count your blessings one by one and you can see what God has done.

Well there is my post for today, while I wait for the work day to end.  I'm sure I've made a few people angry, and if that's the case... well it is what it is.  I used to be the same as my mother-in-law always trying to make everyone happy.  My resolution is to stop that, and say what is on my mind, I tear myself up too much trying to keep everyone happy but myself.  I know what I have to do to be happy and well, I'm doing it.  God has given me that lesson, and I plan on learning it.

I hate people...

Today I am annoyed.  People who talk about how horrible their lives are and do nothing to fix them.. they become fixated on getting that one thing, and they lose sight of so many other things.  Like keeping their promises, or doing what they said they would do, or taking responsibility for their own actions.  UGH.

I'm cranky, and want to vent.. so here I am, at work when my ear is killing me, trying my best to stay active and productive, and just letting my thoughts brood. Really wish people would pull their head out of their butts and do what they said they would do instead of being off in la la land.

I mean I am in no ways perfect but krikey, instead of whining about how  much my life sucks, I count my blessings.  Hey you have a roof over your head, you have a job, you have people who care about you.  You have FOOD in your stomachs. There are a lot of people in this world who do not have any of those, so when you start to worry, hey count your blessings.

I know I have to work on it, but at least I realize I have to work on it.  Some people just wallow, and I'm so tired of all the stupid wallowing. "oooh if only this... and if only that.."

SHUT UP!!  GAH... You are darn lucky to live in the United States, and have places that will help you.  Plenty of other countries could give two shizernits about what you don't have, and would do nothing to help you.

Here we have food stamps, cash assistance, Toys for Tots, and lots of other programs! I mean the Shelter of Flint helps people find affordable living!

You know what also annoys me, people who abuse the system.  I have a co-worker who doesn't make that much and was barely able to give her kids a christmas. I told her go to Toys for Tots; we did last year.  She wouldn't go because there are needier people.  Well, my housemate went and was approved, but had to work at Toys R Us the day to pick up the toys.  My husband went to pick the toys up for her, and let me tell you, some of the people there were horrible!  Talking about getting high and drinking!!  The volunteers were 15 mins late to pass out the toys, and people started yelling at them demanding another bag because they had to wait!  I mean, how ungrateful can people be?!  You're getting free hand-outs and you have the audacity to demand more?! Mean while you spend your time getting high and getting drunk, yeah your kids needs toys for tots because you're too inept to go out and work because you're getting high and being a drag on human society. UGH!

Now it's Christmas time and people are out shopping.  What happened to common courtesy.  People are shoving and pushing and being rude.  Hello?! did we forget the real reason for this holiday? Celebrating the birth of Christ!! Oh yeah.. forgot... we're not a "christian" nation anymore.  Despite the fact that it was FOUNDED on people who were escaping persecution for being christian.

I hate people...

Honesty...

Today I have been completely surprised at the number of people that have lied.

Here's the thing, I used to lie almost all the time, I had a horrible habit of doing it.  I tried to make it seem that I was doing better than I really was, tell people that I was their friend, and then talk behind their back.

All it did was lead to heart ache, and having to think about what I said to someone before hand so I could keep up the lie.

As soon as I found the Lord, I realize I had to stop this, and I became truthful.  I told the truth all the time, it was really hard at first, everything in me wanted to lie, but I made sure I did not.  As time went out I got better and better with the truth.  It's so much better, I don't know why I did not do it before.

When you lie you have to deal with the consequences, someone slipping up, or even yourself, and you get in more trouble.  Because their upset about the original transgression, and made even worse.

Because something always gets screwed up, someone always slips, and the truth comes out.

Just tell the truth... it'll make it better in the long run.

Veteran's Day

My grandpa Weier, lost 3 fingers on his left hand in World War II.  He only had his thumb and pinky finger.

Grandpa Burchill was in the Navy during World War II

My father gave over 20 years to the National Guard.

My little brother now serves as an office in the Navy.

This 4 men are the closest to me that have served in the military, they gave body parts, time with friends and family, in the service to their country.  To keep freedom free.

Some gave all, some gave their lives.  Today remember those people, remember the ones that have given their time and their commitment.  Also remember their loved ones at home, who support them on a daily basis.

Happy Veteran's day

The man seems to always be able to put his foot in his mouth...

Kanye West was on the today show, and he once again showed how much of an ass this man is.

Dubya wrote in his book that the lowest point of his presidency was when Kanye said on live TV "George Bush doesn't like black people"  Now that's another post all together, how 9-11 and Hurricane Katrina happened during his presidency but the low point was a comment made by a musical artist.  Yeah.. ANYWAYS

Kanye goes on the Today show and talks to Matt Lauer about this comment, and Matt brings up the issues about people calling Kanye racist when he took the microphone from Taylor Swift, and they play the clip and Kanye was not happy about it.  He said, "Now how am I suppose to talk when you have that playing?"

There's a clip to the interview, he's just basically an ass.. and not professional in any way shape or form.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ZVYZkD1tMk

He then goes an twitters about how Matt tried to force his answers, and so and so forth.  He's someone that is completely full of himself, and thinks he's better than anyone else.  What did you expect when doing an interview with Matt Lauer, Matt treats everyone the same and asks the questions that people want to know.

Grow up Kanye, this is what is part of being an adult.  You've stuck your foot in your mouth more times than anyone can count and have made fellow celebrities nervouse to be around you for fear of what you might do or say and they may be associated with the things you say.

Wednesday Wednesday

Ahh a bit more political commentary.... So watching the Today show this morning and apparently Dubya stopped by to say hi, and do a bit more of an interview with Matt Lauer.  So Matt asks Dubya,  "there was a housing collapse, a near banking collapse, and thousands of jobs lost while you were in office, how much of the blame for that do you take?"  and you see this look of pure confusion on Dubya's face, and he says, "Well there were a lot of people to blame for that, including my administration"

Yeah that was his answer, it's like.. everyone else was to blame, but me.  I just.. ugh.   Why is this man still in the spotlight?   I know, I know.. he's promoting his new book.  Who gave him the wonderful idea to write a book?  and why is everyone and their brother writing books now a days?  It's ridiculous, and I still say this government is going to hell in a hand-basket.

Oh, and you know what else I heard this morning, TLC has a new reality show, "Sarah Palin's Alaska"  Here's another out of work public official who just needs to go away.  Yeah she's had a show on FOX for quite some time, but that's FOX, they don't count, they're so right they never make a left turn!  But now TLC, who I had thought to be a "real" network is giving this chicky even more limelight.

I'm beginning to think I may not watch a whole lot of TLC anymore, first it was "Sister Wives", and now this.  Media is getting on my nerves, programing to to the ignorant majority, when they should be educating and helping make this country a better place.

Anyways, on to other things.  Regular everyday things that no one really cares about.  I've decided that if I can help it, I'm never going to buy another thing from Walmart.  I bought a dining set from them not too long ago and the bench that came with it, completely broke the other day, making me have to go out and get new chairs, but of course I could not find just simple chairs at Kmart or Meijer, so I bought 24'' stools, they work ok, but they are a bit tall, will need to figure out how to make them shorter without ruining them...

Last night I went to Meijer to purchase these chairs and also to grab a couple of things for the remodel, such as switch covers, and a new air vent cover.  After wondering around for 20 mins in the hardware section I finally spied some workers not working, but just sitting around and talking and grabbed one and asked for assistance.  He barely knew what I was talking about till I showed him a picture of what I wanted that was on an air vent filter. You would think that they would be right next to each other but no, the air vent covers were actually all the way on the back wall, in a little 1 foot section.  To top it off, they only had floor ones, and not ones that I could put on a wall.

So that is what I will be doing today at lunch is going to Home Depot and getting air vent covers that go on the wall.

Put the first coat on the walls today of the dark maroon, looks more like purplish pink right now, but once it dries and I put at least two more coats on it, it will have the look I want.

Looking forward to this weekend.  No kids, no roomate, just my husband and I with absolutely no plans.  The painting should be finished up by friday at the latest, was going to work on the yard, but since it's raining this weekend that will not be possible.  Just more cleaning and getting the house ready for the 20th,  I hope I can pull this off.
